Transit of Venus, June 2012
The planet Venus crosses the face of the sun for the second and last time of the 21st century. Miss this one and you’ll have to wait until December 2117. We’ll experience the rare event from Hawaii, where we’ll also visit one or more of the world-class observatories atop Mauna Kea and explore some of the Big Island’s biggest treasures, such as Volcano National Park and the spot at Kealakekua Bay where British explorer Capt. James Cook was killed in 1779. A decade earlier, Cook witnessed a transit of Venus from Tahiti. Click here for details.

Total solar eclipse, November 2012
One of the most spectacular sights of all – a total eclipse of the sun – experienced from Mossman, a picturesque little township nestled at the foot of the mountains in northeastern Australia, just inland from the shores of the Coral Sea. Click here for details.

And on to Papua New Guinea
We’re already on the other side of the world, so let’s take full advantage and extend our stay after the eclipse for a quick experience of Papua New Guinea, just a short flight to our north. Click here for details.
